Waterford, Maine - After 25 successful years, the organizers of the beloved Waterford Fall Foliage 5K Road Race (WFF5K) have determined that the upcoming 26th edition to be held on Sunday October 12, 2025 will be the last. This difficult decision marks the end of a cherished tradition that has brought our community and neighbors together for over two decades.
First launched in 2000, the WFF5K has been a fun community event to support the Tony Waldeier Scholarship Fund. It has proudly served as a platform to award scholarships to deserving Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School graduates who have at some point in their career attended school in our little Waterford community. Over the years, this annual fall event has attracted countless participants and spectators while raising thousands of dollars to support the kids. A complete list of scholarship recipients can be found on our website.
"This was not an easy decision," stated Race Director, Paula Easton. The success of the WFF5K has always been attributed to the dedication and effort of a small group of committee members and organizers.
We are proud of the impact this event has had on the community and the legacy that’s sure to follow. We are ever grateful to the dedicated committee members, sponsors, volunteers, donors, participants and spectators who selflessly contributed to the WFF5K’s success over the past 25 years!
Our farewell edition will be in remembrance of the late Martha Eaton whose unmatched dedication to this event will remain forever in our hearts.
Please join us on Sunday, October 12, 2025 as we celebrate this history and offer a final goodbye!
